We support, recognise and celebrate the value of childhood.

Pupils are admitted to the Junior School with the expectation that they will transfer to the Senior School at the end of Year 6. We recognise that this is a big milestone in our pupils’ lives and our careful preparations help ensure a smooth transition that does not disrupt their learning.

During Year 6, children get to know some of the key staff in the Senior School. In the Autumn Term, we hold a parents’ meeting to explain the transition process and give parents the opportunity to meet staff. All of our Year 6 pupils attend the Year 7 Assessment Morning in the January preceeding transition to take the entry assessments for our Senior School. However, unlike the external candidates, our own pupils’ transition to the Senior School is not dependant upon the results.

In the Summer Term of Year 6 the children, together with those who will be joining Year 7 from elsewhere, spend a day in the Senior School to get a flavour of St Christopher Senior School life.
