Today we were delighted to welcome our Upper Sixth students back to St Christopher School, Letchworth, to celebrate collecting their A Level results.
Head Rich Jones said: “Congratulations to all our students on their hard work in the lead up to today’s results. For this cohort of students – as for all across the country – it is the first time many of them have sat an external exam, with their GCSEs and a large chunk of their secondary education impacted by the pandemic: academically, mentally and socially.
“Despite this they have tackled their A levels with positivity and resilience and, with 90% of our students heading to their first choice of university, we wish them all the very best for their next steps where I am confident they will thrive using the skills and experiences they have gained at St Chris.
“There have been some excellent individual performances. Amongst the success stories are Oli Grantley who achieved A* in Biology and As in Maths and Chemistry; Eleanor Goodridge who achieved A* in Geography and As in Psychology and Biology; Soonu Dilke who received three As in Art (Fine Art), Maths and Biology; and Elisabeth Romain who also achieved a clean sweep of As in Chemistry, Biology and Art (3D Design). I would also like to equally highlight and congratulate those students who worked hard to achieve their grades across the full spectrum of results. A hard-won B when predicted a C is an equally significant achievement.
“Our students have an unshakable knowledge and belief in who they are as individuals, and of the importance of lifelong learning, and I am sure their confidence and authenticity will see them well in to the next stage of their education. Throughout their time here they have been a credit to our school – with many of them playing an active role in our student self-governance system, in arts and sports achievements and in supporting younger pupils as mentors and friends. As teachers we are incredibly proud of all of them.”
Students from St Chris are heading to a range of universities and further education establishments including Newcastle University to study Medicine; Royal Drawing School to study for an Art Foundation; Imperial College London to study Materials Science and Engineering; Bristol to study Psychology and Bath to study Modern Languages.
