Recently, Luke Fisher from V Group (Year 11) was awarded one of the highest awards in Scouting for young people – the Young Leader Award.

As an Explorer Scout, it has taken Luke almost a year to complete 11 training modules and four missions (practical projects) whilst also volunteering weekly at his village Cub Pack.

The Scouting Scheme is designed for Young Leaders to develop skills and knowledge to act as part of the section leadership team in running Scouting events. It covers subjects such as developing, planning and running of balanced quality programmes. Other topics include Child Protection, First Aid and leadership skills.

Luke has been part of Scouting in his village since the age of 6 as a Beaver.  He is also the fourth generation from his family to be actively involved in Scouting. This dates back to his great grandfather who was a Rover Scout Leader during World War 2.

Luke wants to continue in Scouting so that he can put something back into the organisation that has given him so much over the past 10 years.
