This week for our annual Year 8 (II Group) Illustration Workshop we were pleased to invite author and illustrator Jessica Meserve back to St Chris.
Jessica gave a fascinating talk about finding inspiration for her picture books, developing characters, the excitement of a good page turn and letting imagination and experience lead story telling. She also shared with students many of her beautiful sketchbooks and her published work.
Jessica then circulated helping students in the Library and Art Department to develop their own illustrated picture books for young readers. Students had previously written their stories in English and story boarded their ideas visually in art. The students made so much progress and had a lot of fun developing their stories and illustrations.
The project continues after half term and culminates with a trip to the Junior School to share the finished picture books with younger students.
