This week four St Chris pupils attended the Salters’ Festival of Chemistry at the University of Hertfordshire.

Ryuho (Year 8), Louis, Vincent and Alfie (Year 7) all worked together in the brand new pharmaceuticals laboratory in the Department of Clinical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The students took part in The Salters Challenge in the morning and the University Challenge in the afternoon and watched a Chemical Magic Demonstration lecture.

They said: “I enjoyed the liquid nitrogen experiments when things were then smashed”. “The experience was vivid and positively influential, developing a bond between team mates and more interest in Chemistry”.

My thanks go to the staff of The School of Life and Medical Sciences at the University of Hertfordshire, The Salters’ Institute and The Royal Society of Chemistry for a very enjoyable and informative day.
