Sixth Form Life at St Chris
The St Chris Sixth Form is a dynamic environment where academic excellence blends with personal development at the most pivotal time in our students’ educational journey.
Life in the St Chris Sixth Form is full of possibility. It’s a time of growth, discovery and connection — when students work hard towards academic success while exploring new interests, developing independence and forming friendships that last long beyond school.
- At St Chris, we support our young people to meet and exceed their own expectations and goals.
- We are the ‘stepping stone’ to university or their desired destination, whatever that may be and we equip students with the tools manage their independent studies as they will in further education.
- Students in the Sixth Form benefit from an extensive co-curricular offering from timetabled extracurricular activities to developmental opportunities and trips that enhance learning.

1. Leadership and Voice
Sixth Form students play an active role in shaping school life. Whether through the School Council, as Head Students or other Major Officials, they make their voices heard and contribute meaningfully to the direction of our community.
They learn that true leadership is grounded in integrity, empathy and purpose — and that being part of a community means making a difference within it.
2. Balance, Friendship and Growth
At St Chris, we believe in balance — between independence and belonging, hard work and enjoyment, study and play. Our Sixth Form community is outward-looking, collaborative and caring. Every student is known, supported and celebrated for who they are and what they achieve.
3. Personalised Support: The Tutor Programme
Every student in the Sixth Form has a personal tutor who offers academic guidance, helps set goals and provides pastoral support. This one-to-one relationship sits at the heart of our holistic approach, ensuring that each young person feels seen, heard and supported throughout their journey.
4. Opportunities Beyond the Timetable
Our co-curricular programme encourages balance and wellbeing. From sports clubs and creative arts to volunteering and leadership roles, students have countless opportunities to pursue passions and build new skills.
Because we are a small community, staff get to know each student exceptionally well — understanding their interests, ambitions and challenges, and helping them to flourish as individuals.
5. A Supportive and Social Community
Sixth Form life at St Chris is lively and inclusive. Students enjoy a range of communal spaces to study, collaborate and relax together. Regular trips, events and social gatherings bring our community closer and provide time to unwind and connect.
Students who join us from other schools are warmly welcomed and quickly find their place within our close-knit, respectful environment.
6. Morning Talks
Our assemblies are known as Morning Talks, and they’re a much-loved part of St Chris life.
Morning Talks take place in the School Theatre and bring the community together to share ideas, hear from speakers, and enjoy music and performance. They also include a short period of silence – a long-standing tradition at St Chris that offers time for reflection.
You’re encouraged to contribute to Sixth Form Morning Talks – either as part of a group or on your own. In the past, students have given talks on a wide range of thoughtful, personal and creative topics.
As well as two compulsory Morning Talks (one on Monday for the whole school and one on Wednesday just for Sixth Form), there’s also an optional Whole School Morning Talk on Fridays. You can check the topic list each week and attend any that interest you.
On days with no Morning Talks you’ll spend time in Tutor Groups or in one-to-one mentoring.
