St Chris Swim School
St Chris Swim School provides a range of swimming lessons and other water-based opportunities in our indoor heated 25m, 4-lane pool. Lessons are open to all in the local community from babies to adults; however, please note, there is a waiting list in place (with a usual time of 18months wait in the most popular age or stage of classes).

Baby & Child Lessons
We offer Parent and Baby (4 to 18 months) and Parent and Toddler (19 months to 3 years) lessons for little ones and their parents or carers.
The lessons take place in our warm pool and are a lovely bonding opportunity for you and your child. The teacher will lead you and your child through various activities to encourage familiarity and fun in the water.
- Lessons teach water skills through games and songs
- Increases water confidence and enjoyment for you both
- Enhances physical and social development
- Small class sizes – maximum of 8 in a class
- Similar ages/abilities together
- Same teacher throughout the year
- Individual feedback
- Changing rooms with playpen and baby change facilities
Classes currently run at the following times:

Parent and Baby lessons – Monday’s during school term time, 9.00 – 9.30am or Saturday’s during school term time, 8.00 – 8.30am

Parent and Toddler lessons – Monday’s during school term time, 9.30 – 10.00am or Saturday’s during school term time, 8.30 – 9.00am

Swimming Lessons
St Chris Swim School offers group lessons for non-swimmers, beginners, improvers, for children and adults on Saturdays and after school. We also offer pre-school classes at these times and at lunchtimes.
Time in lessons is spent balanced between water skills and stroke development, encouraging familiarity and fun in the water.
- Small class sizes: 4:1 for non-swimmers; 5:1 for beginners and 6:1 for improvers
- Key Element Teaching ensures the chance for success each week
- Same teacher throughout the term, individual feedback each lesson and continual monitoring for opportunities to progress
- Develops water safety, physical and social skills

Waiting List
Due reaching capacity, our waiting list for all classes is now closed. We will review this in the Spring term, when we hope to be able to open the waiting list back up to new applicants.






Do you want to be a Lifeguard?
If you are aged 16 or above and would like to become a pool lifeguard, we run courses at St Chris. If you would like to enrol of one of our National Pool Lifeguard Qualification courses, please email Sarah Armstrong (our Pool Manger) who can assist: sarah.armstrong@stchris.co.uk
Once qualified, or if you already have your qualification, and would like to apply to work as a lifeguard at St Chris, please check our website for current vacancies and/or contact Sarah to register your interest for future positions.
Community Swimming Sessions
Current St Christopher School pupils, staff and members of their households are invited to use our free Community Swimming Sessions, which run during the St Chris termtimes.
Please note that to take part in sessions you must first request a Community Swim Card from the Swimming Pool Manager. Once you have collected your card, the person(s) named on the card must bring it with them to every swim, otherwise you will not be able to access the pool. Please contact Sarah Armstrong sarah.armstrong@stchris.co.uk to request a card or come to the Swimming Pool reception during school hours.
- Parent and staff only swim session – Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays *, 7.15am – 8.30am.
- Family community swim session – Sundays **. 9.30am – 11.30am
*/** Dates of both the initial and final sessions of each term will be announced in the weekly RoundUp newsletter - usually our last swim sessions run on the final Friday and Sunday of the term.
Fees and Payment Details
Fees for swimming lessons are payable termly, in advance. Once your swimming lessons or activity have been confirmed, your lessons can be paid for by card or by cash at the pool or via our online Soakly SwimSchool software.
