Senior School Sports and Games
Our Senior School offers a diverse array of sports and activities tailored to individual interests and abilities, ensuring a holistic approach to wellbeing, and encouraging our students to strive for personal excellence irrespective of their ability.
At St Chris, we have a dynamic and inclusive approach to sports and physical education.
Our Sports Programme spans a wide range of activities, including Basketball, Football, Rugby, Netball, Volleyball, Badminton, Touch ball, Handball, Table Tennis, Health-related Fitness, Gymnastics, Cricket, Rounders, Athletics, Cross Country, Tennis, and Swimming. This extensive offering provides students with the opportunity to explore and excel in sports that resonate with their individual passions.
We also offer A-Level and GCSE Physical Education (PE) for those who wish to pursue academic excellence in this subject. Students have opportunities to analyse a range of sports, as well as gaining a practical performance grade from their own chosen sports.
Students actively engage in half-termly Inter-house sports events, competing in a spirited atmosphere to earn points for their houses. These events not only foster healthy competition but also contribute to a sense of camaraderie and house pride within the St Chris community. We believe in shaping well-rounded individuals, and our PE Curriculum is designed to cultivate not only physical prowess but also mental resilience. Our aim is to strive for personal excellence as well as committing to sustained participation in physical activity or sport as lifelong learners as an essential part of an active and healthy lifestyle.
Dynamic Sports Clubs
Our commitment to student involvement extends to lunchtime and after-school Sports Clubs, where students have the chance to immerse themselves in the sports of their choice. These clubs are popular with our pupils, nurturing talent, and passion in a supportive environment and help foster appropriate relationships across all year groups founded on mutual respect and trust.
League Competitions and Friendlies
St Chris proudly participates in the North Herts District League for most sports, engaging in competitive fixtures against schools from the local district. Our dedication also extends to friendly matches against both local state and independent schools, creating opportunities for diverse competition and collaboration. Coached by our specialist sports team, pupils enjoy spending time with their teammates on and off the pitch.
District Champions and Big Wins
St Chris is synonymous with success in sports. Our teams compete at a high level, achieving notable victories and earning recognition as district champions in Cricket, Netball and Basketball. There have also been some individual performances that have resulted in district champions in athletics. Our sporting culture has dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship deeply embedded within it. We also have had big wins against larger schools in football and rugby.

Values that Define Us: Sportsmanship and Wellness
In the Senior School at St Chris, values matter. Our commitment to sportsmanship is ingrained in every aspect of our Senior School PE Curriculum. We believe in instilling not only the skills needed for sports success but also the values of respect, teamwork, and fair play. Our approach goes beyond the physical, nurturing the physical wellness in school that is a cornerstone of our ethos.
Our PE & Games Curriculum
Across the Senior School years, our PE and Games curriculum encourages participation, teamwork and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity. We focus on skill development, understanding the value of health and fitness, and nurturing each student’s confidence and enjoyment in sport.
