Moving to Hertfordshire
Moving to Hertfordshire
Families relocating to Hertfordshire from across the UK and globally choose St Chris for their child’s education.
We are primely located between Cambridge and London, based in the historic town of Letchworth Garden City which boasts excellent trainline connections and is within proximity to major UK airports including Heathrow, Stansted, Luton and Gatwick. The School also runs several bus routes to popular Hertfordshire towns and villages including Hitchin, Harpenden, St Albans, Stevenage, Hadley Wood, and North London.
Letchworth Garden City is a beautiful, family orientated leafy town, and is officially the world’s first Garden City. The town is a collage of ruralism and urban living. There’s plenty to do in the town and its surrounding towns and villages, and London Kings Cross is a short 27-minute train ride for those looking for good commuter links or wanting to explore the capital's vibrant culture. Among its rich heritage, Letchworth Garden City offers a variety of shops, open spaces, independent restaurants, and cafes. St Chris is situated on the edge of the town, boasting 25-acres of scenic grounds, original buildings, and outstanding learning facilities.
Hertfordshire’s origins stretch back as far as the Anglo-Saxon era and its heritage offers a unique charm appealing to lots of families. We are always delighted to help students and families who are relocating to Hertfordshire on their journey. Those who join the St Chris community from further afield always receive a warm welcome from our team and existing parents.
A Multicultural School
You will hear us for who we really are; unquestionably respectful, but Zhao, Hannah, Aziz, or Li, not ‘sir’, ‘miss’, ‘ma’am’, or ‘you there’.
At St Chris, we are proud of our multicultural community and believe our diversity aids our dynamic approach to education. From the children in our Nusery to the Sixth Form students residing in our Boarding House, our students have diverse backgrounds, joining us from international and more local cities, towns, and villages. Many different languages are spoken across the school and students are encouraged to celebatre their culture with our community, and share their language skills with peers.
Supporting English as an Additional Language
For students where English is their second language, we offer Junior School, Senior School, and Sixth Form students English as an Additional Language (EAL) lessons from our friendly specialist team. These lessons are integral for students to feel part of our school community and are particularly popular with our Senior School and Sixth Form international boarders.
