A Typical Day in the Senior School
The school day, running from 8.40am to 3.40pm, offers ample opportunity for students to develop skills in all subjects while also exploring co-curricular interests.
Our school day is designed to balance academic learning with personal development. Pupils are encouraged to think deeply, question boldly, and take ownership of their learning. Lessons are engaging and purposeful, and our highly skilled teachers provide guidance that nurtures independence, creativity, and perseverance.

A Community That Cares
Life at St Chris Senior School is about more than lessons. It’s about forming friendships, embracing challenges, and feeling part of a community that values each individual. Pupils are encouraged to be curious, courageous, and compassionate, ensuring that every day offers experiences that inspire and empower.
Boarding and Day Options: A 24/7 Community
With 490 students aged 3 to 18, St Chris offers not only day places but also full, weekly, and occasional boarding in the Senior School. Our boarding options provide a balanced week of academic focus and enjoyable activities, fostering a genuine 24/7 community where students form lasting connections.
Vertical Activities
At St Chris, the sense of community spans across different year groups. From the Junior School to the Senior School, there's a collaborative spirit. Older students assist younger ones in various capacities, whether it's reading sessions, mentorship, or community service. During Thursday afternoon Options in the Senior School, students engage in vertical groups, fostering a sense of camaraderie across all ages.
Library and Morning Talks
The school Library, based in the Mulberry Building, is a hub of quiet study, open all day for reading, homework, or computer use. Morning Talks, held twice a week, provide a platform for music, performance, and a period of silence - This practice allows students and staff alike to collect their thoughts, ponder what they've heard, and simply take a moment to breathe.

Year 7 - Year 9: Finding Your Feet
In the early years of Senior School, students focus on settling into their new environment while building confidence and independence. The curriculum is broad and balanced, allowing students to explore a variety of subjects, discover new interests, and develop skills essential for independent learning.
This stage is all about curiosity, growth, and building strong foundations—both academically and personally so that students are ready to take on the challenges of the years ahead.
Year 10 & Year 11: Growing Ambition
As pupils enter Years 10 and 11, they focus on their GCSE studies while continuing to explore personal interests and talents. Our guidance ensures students make choices that reflect their strengths, passions, and future ambitions.
During these years, students benefit from individual support, specialist teaching, and a broad range of opportunities outside the classroom, all designed to help them thrive, grow in confidence, and prepare for the next stage of their education.
