A record-breaking year for AS and A Levels
Today, we are so pleased to be celebrating an outstanding set of AS and A Level results, with more than half of all grades awarded at A* or A and 95% of students securing a place at their first-choice university. A huge congratulations to our students who worked so hard this year.
This year:
- 25% of all grades achieved by our students were at A*
- 52% at A*-A
- 71% at A*-B
- 83% at A*-C
These reflect the school’s strongest A and AS Level results.
Success was seen across a broad range of subjects, reflecting the breadth of the St Chris Sixth Form curriculum. In Further Maths, French and Textile Design, 100% of grades were A*-A, alongside 80% in Computer Science, 78% in Physics, 73% in Maths and 71% in Geography. Students also achieved particularly strong results in Fine Art, Chemistry, Psychology, Philosophy, History and 3D Design.
St Chris leavers are now preparing for an exceptionally broad range of next steps. Destinations include Imperial College London to study Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering; the University of St Andrews for Mathematics; Durham University for Mechanical Engineering, Philosophy and Theology, and Archaeology and Ancient Civilisations; the University of Edinburgh for Chemistry and Biological Sciences; the University of Warwick for Mathematics and Philosophy and Modern Languages; and the University of Liverpool for Dental Surgery.
Other students are pursuing creative and professional routes including Architecture, Product and Furniture Design, Fashion Jewellery, Acting, Photography, Art History and Curating, Physiotherapy and an Art Foundation. One student has also secured a highly competitive engineering degree apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce in partnership with UWE Bristol.
Lily, who achieved an A*, an A and a B, has secured her first choice and will go on to study Psychology at the University of Nottingham. She said: “I’ve been at St Chris since Year 6 and I’m really pleased. St Chris has taught me to be more independent and has really taught me to be my own person, which has made me feel ready for the next step. I feel like I really know more about myself.”
Daniel, who achieved two A*s and two As in Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Physics, has secured a highly competitive engineering degree apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce in partnership with UWE Bristol. He said: “I think something I’ve learned at St Chris is to be more sociable and as approachable as possible. It helped me secure my degree apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce and that’s something valuable I got from here.”
Daniel’s parents added: “He’s enjoyed everything about the school, the social life and the academic side, and you’ve really seen him mature into a grown-up. The school’s been a really big part of that. We are so pleased for him.”

What is particularly pleasing is the breadth of that success. Our students have achieved at the very highest level across maths and sciences, humanities and creative subjects. That matters to us because we want young people to be able to pursue the subjects they care about and discover where their own strengths and interests can take them.
It is also wonderful to see 95% of our university applicants securing their first-choice destination. Behind that statistic are young people taking the next step towards something they have worked incredibly hard for.
The range of those next steps feels very St Chris – from engineering, medicine and dentistry to mathematics, architecture, design and the performing arts, alongside a highly competitive degree apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce.
