Help and guidance
Personal tutors plus university and career advice help students make informed choices about their future.
All students have a personal tutor who makes sure they make the most of their time in the Sixth Form, in terms of their academic and social progress and their extra-curricular involvement. In addition to regular tutorials, Sixth Formers attend Morning Talk with the whole School on a Monday and have their own Morning Talk on a Thursday.
We provide an extension group for those preparing for entry into Oxford and Cambridge and Russell Group universities. An Extended Project Qualification is also offered to all Sixth Formers, providing an excellent opportunity to develop the skills most highly regarded by university admissions tutors and modern employers: independent thinking, creative problem solving and self-motivation.
Options and advice
All Sixth Formers are allocated a ‘Next Steps’ Adviser who is responsible for guiding them through their post Sixth Form choices. In the majority of cases this will mean helping with university applications. All students are provided with detailed guidance about their options beyond School. This focuses on higher education but we can also give advice about gap years and direct routes to employment. In addition, our Art department can prepare students for direct entry to Art College.
