IMG_0711On Wednesday 5 September we welcomed our Year 7 (I Group) and Year 12 (Lower Sixth) students for their Induction Days before the start of term.

After meeting their company adviser and peer mentors, Year 7 took part in archery and a treasure hunt before spending time with their companies taking part in team building exercises and finding out about all the practicalities they’ll need to know on starting Senior School.

Year 12 started their day with tea and coffee and an introduction to A-Levels in the Theatre followed by meeting their tutors and tutor groups, a tour of the Sixth Form Centre, taking part in puzzle challenges on the School field, and baking in the vege centre.

All the new Year 12 students had a Safeguarding Induction session from the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead as part of their first day. They looked at the role students can play in peer safety and the ways in which they could deal with any issues that they encounter with respect to student safeguarding and what to do if they notice something that they, as senior students, are concerned about, followed by a short discussion on Consent.

Following lunch the Deputy Head of the Junior School spoke to them about grit and deliberative practice – useful subjects to consider at the start of a two year A-Level course!

To round off a jam-packed day, Year 12 met staff and teachers in the Sixth Form Centre for tea and cake!
