Well done to our Senior School swimming teams – Junior Girls and Junior Boys (Years 7 and 8) and Inter Girls and Inter Boys (Years 9 and 10) – who represented St Chris at the District Swimming Gala at Hitchin Swimming Centre on 30 January.

All our swimmers were placed successfully in the gala and nearly all improved on their PBs. Thank you to Sixth Form pupil Neve Hunton who was an efficient team manager on the night and to swimmers and reserves moving into different races at the last minute when illness struck!

Particular congratulations go to:

  • Sam Hart-Smith, Neve Skinner, James Barrow, Ray Brooks and Lucas Hill as well as the Junior Boys freestyle and medley relay teams and the Inter Girls medley relay team who all came a (frustrating!) 4th place.
  • Jon Key who placed 2nd in the 25m Butterfly (missing the top spot by 0.04th of a second!)
  • Thom Chambers who won his 50m Freestyle event.
  • The Inter Boys team (Thom, Jon, Jack Chimes and James Barrow) who came 3rd in their medley relay, won their freestyle relay and came second overall in the Inter Boys category.

A HUGE well done to all the Junior and Inter Boys swimmers as came they came 3rd in the Boys’ competition overall (despite not having any Senior Boys points to contribute to their overall score). This is a significant achievement when considering that the larger schools we were competing against can have between 200-400 swimmers from which to select their teams of four!

Well-done all
