Hola España, Bonjour France, Hello St. Chris!

There was excitement in the air on 15 March as a group of St. Chris language students waited for their exchange partners to arrive from Metz (France) and Lorca (Spain).

After a long day of travel, they finally arrived at St. Chris to meet up with their “St Chris counterparts” (as one student wrote). “Though still quite awkward for a few, many ran into each other’s arms and were happy to be on steady ground”.  A week of learning and fun was just around the corner!

Saturday had an early start, with an 8:30am departure from the School. The destination? London! All of the exchange students (Metz, Lorca and St. Chris), along with some weekend boarders, leapt onto the coach for a day of adventure!

Although it was a gusty and chilly day, the students didn’t let it bother them as they laughed and paraded around the city. The tour started at Buckingham Palace and continued all the way down to the Westminster Pier. Along the way, they were able to take in the sights of Trafalgar Square, the Horse Guards Parade, 10 Downing Street, Westminster Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament and what could be seen of Big Ben!

“With all of the people surrounding us, it was tricky to stick together and not get lost. Every few minutes, we had to regroup and revert back to our pack”!

At the Westminster Pier, the students hopped on a city tour boat (which warmed the cold fingers and noses) and “passed legendary sights, such as the London Eye, HMS Belfast, Tower Bridge and many more”! The boat tour ended at the Tower of London where they had free time to roam the ancient streets surrounding the Tower.

Sunday was a much needed rest day, as most exchange partners stayed with their families and had small outings of their own.
