Creative Arts

The School's Music Centre consists of teaching, practice and performance spaces around a central courtyard.

A team of experienced instrumental teachers are heavily involved with many aspects of the School's musical life.

In addition to regular teaching, there are many extra-curricular opportunities for students, which include a Junior and a Senior orchestra, two jazz bands, a singing group and a number of smaller ensembles.

The Department stages regular events such as Jazz Cafés, recital evenings and seasonal concerts.

Following the addition of a Music Technology suite in the Music Centre, Music Technology is now available as an A Level subject.

In Spring 2009 the School's orchestra performed the World Premiere of "Colours From The Rainbow" by Gaurav Mazumdar. The work was written especially for the School, fusing elements of Indian and Western musical traditions, and has also been recorded for release as a CD.
