Creative Arts

Drama is a popular subject, both as a curriculum subject at GCSE and A level, and as an extra-curricular option. Curriculum drama aims to develop an appreciation and understanding of theatre, a range of practical theatre skills and also social skills.

The School benefits from the facilities of a purpose-built theatre and a fully-equipped drama studio. There are regular productions each year at Junior and Senior School level. GCSE and A level students put on public performances to fulfil the requirements of their courses. Visiting theatre companies provide workshops and performances. Students are able to participate in the design and technical aspects of theatre, as well as acting.

There are frequent theatre trips for GCSE and A level students and, of course, for those with a general interest in drama.

Opportunities are also presented to students to participate in the work of outside companies such as the National Youth Theatre and Hertfordshire County Youth Theatre.
