Pastoral Care
Each year group in the Senior School is organized into “companies” (tutor groups), supervised by an Adviser. Advisers register their company twice a day, and there is an extended company session once a week. Advisers work closely with their students, with the Head of Year and with parents to monitor their work and progress, so that any concerns can be addressed at an early stage.
The School provides students with clear guidelines for acceptable behaviour and standards of work.
Parents' Consultations
Discussions with subject teachers take place annually. Parents can make short appointments to discuss their children’s progress with each subject teacher.
There are also parents’ meetings in which senior and specialist staff outline the next stage of a student’s schooling, such as the transfer from Junior to Senior School, GCSE and A level choices.
Reports
Reports on a student’s academic progress are submitted by subject teachers to advisers on a regular basis, usually as a short interim report during the first part of the term, and a fuller report at the end.
Interim reports contain grades for attainment, effort and work rate, and sometimes a short comment is added. Full reports contain a longer comment with a detailed progress report and advice for improvement.
