In Years 7 and 8 students follow a core curriculum in Mathematics, Science and English. In addition, students follow courses in French, Spanish, Geography, History, Design Technology, Art, Music, Drama and Physical Education.
Science is taught as General Science with one teacher, and Physics, Chemistry and Biology by separate specialist teachers from Year 9.
Year 7 students have an additional session of swimming. All students take an extra-curricular option on a Thursday afternoon.
During Year 9 students choose their GCSE subjects.
Years 10 and 11 are the GCSE years. The core curriculum consists of GCSE courses in:
- Mathematics
- English Language and Literature
- Science/Additional Science or Physics/Chemistry/Biology (2 or 3 GCSEs)
Students then usually choose four additional subjects from:
Art and Design, Design and Technology, Drama, French, Geography, History, Media Studies, Music, Physical Educationand Spanish.
Most students follow four AS courses in Year 12 and three A2 courses in Year 13.
